A simple home puja setup

A clean corner, a lamp, water, and a few minutes are enough to begin. You do not need a full altar on the first day.

A simple home puja setup

A home puja corner is a place you can return to. It does not have to fill a room. A shelf you can keep clean is enough.

Pick one spot

Choose a quiet corner you will not use for storage. Face the shelf so you can sit comfortably. Keep the surface clear of phones and loose papers.

Keep the kit small

  • A lamp or a tea light in a stable holder.
  • A small cup for water.
  • Incense only if the room has airflow and nobody in the house is bothered by smoke.
  • A cloth you wash, rather than a pile of decorations.

A short routine

Light the lamp, offer water, sit for a few minutes of japa or quiet, then put the lamp out safely. Doing this at the same time each day matters more than adding more items.

When you are ready for a mala or a bracelet, choose one piece you will actually use in that corner.
